Hey Octet-Fans, I'm running at about 86% now (which is pretty good, considering) and so I thought I'd post to the Octet Blog. (No, this isn't the amazing Friday afternoon miracle. I was truly sick.) I was going to post Parker Sims's "Virtual Reality" solo, but something is inhibiting me  -again. It's mostly that I don't have any insights or clever comments about the video. Not sure why, as it totally rocks.

So, I found "Mr. Sandman" by the Octet about 6 months ago on YouTube. I wasn't even 100% sure it was the Octet, but I was about 55-65% sure just with the sound that it possibly might be the Octet. The fellow who posted it said it was the Octet, and I asked him when it was recorded and he said he would get back to me. That was 6 months ago. Maybe he was busy.

Anyway, this years Octet performed Mr. Sandman and guess what. It's the exact same arrangement! Yay! So, chances are that this is more than likely a definite possible recording of an earlier Octet group singing Mr. Sandman. It definitely has some awesome possibilities! And it's probably the coolest thing I've heard in a while. If anyone can tell me when this was recorded, I would be their friend for life or longer!
The awesome studio recording ^
And the live performance with the Keith Menconi add-in. ^ Nice. :D

On a side note, I don't think I could watch an Octet video that didn't have huge shadowy heads blocking the Octet for part or all of a song. See, you can get used to anything. :)
